Honey Hollow Bestiary

"Everything in Honey Hollow is warm, golden, and sticky β€” including the things that want to eat you."

This file contains all creatures native to Honey Hollow's golden meadows, amber streams, and wildflower fields. Encounters here tend to be gentler than other regions β€” these creatures are cozy at heart, and their corrupted forms carry an extra sting of tragedy because of it.

Note: The Honey Hopper and Buzzling Bee also appear frequently in Honey Hollow but are cataloged under whimsy-woods.md as border-region creatures.

Honey Sprite

Fey β€” Honey Hollow

"Tiny golden sparks that live in the hive walls and make the whole Hollow glow from within."

HP: 6 | Dodge: 12 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 2 | Attack Bonus: +1

Attack

Warm Flicker (1d4 radiant) β€” A pulse of golden light, more startling than harmful, that leaves an afterimage of tiny wings.

Special Ability

Guiding Glow β€” The Honey Sprite attaches to a friendly creature, granting it Advantage on its next Keen check. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Cold β€” Frost dims the sprite's inner light instantly, reducing it to a faint shiver.

Loot

Glow Dust

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The warm golden glow turns a sickly grey-green. The sprite's light, once steady and welcoming, begins to pulse erratically like a broken lantern. Dark marks ring its tiny body like cracks in glass. Behavior: The sprite's comforting light becomes a lure β€” it drifts toward creatures and pulses, drawing them closer before releasing a painful burst. Attack: Warm Flicker becomes Cold Flicker (shadow damage), and Guiding Glow becomes Misleading Glow β€” grants the target Disadvantage on their next roll instead of Advantage. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Meadow Hare

Beast β€” Honey Hollow

"A plump, contented rabbit who knows every flower in the meadow by name and has opinions about all of them."

HP: 10 | Dodge: 13 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 2 | Attack Bonus: +2

Attack

Meadow Kick (1d6 bludgeoning) β€” Surprisingly powerful hind legs deliver a thumping kick with the authority of someone defending their favorite flower patch.

Special Ability

Burrow Escape β€” The Meadow Hare dives into a tunnel only it knows about, reappearing anywhere within 15 ft on its next turn. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Fire β€” The meadow grass it uses for camouflage is dry and catches easily.

Loot

Wildflower Pouch

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: Black marks spread across the hare's ears and down its spine like frost on glass. The soft brown fur hardens into dull, iron-grey scales along its flanks. Behavior: The peaceful grazer becomes aggressively territorial, thumping the ground in warning and charging anything that enters a wide perimeter around its burrow. Attack: Meadow Kick gains knockback β€” targets hit are pushed 5 ft and must succeed DC 11 STR save or fall prone. Burrow Escape becomes Shadow Tunnel β€” the hare reappears behind its target for a surprise attack with Advantage. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Amber Eel

Beast β€” Honey Hollow

"It glides through the golden streams like a ribbon of living light, and it's very ticklish."

HP: 12 | Dodge: 14 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 3 | Attack Bonus: +2

Attack

Spark Coil (1d6 lightning) β€” The eel wraps around a limb and delivers a sharp, buzzy shock before wriggling free.

Special Ability

Golden Slick β€” The eel leaves a trail of amber-tinted slime across a 10 ft line. Creatures crossing it must succeed on a DC 12 AGI save or gain the Stuck condition. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Cold β€” Chilled water slows the eel to a near-halt, giving it Disadvantage on all attacks for 1 round.

Loot

Amber Jelly

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The eel's golden sheen turns a deep, oily black. Dark scales ridge along its spine, and its once-playful wriggling becomes tense and jerking. The golden streams near a corrupted Amber Eel taste bitter. Behavior: Instead of gliding harmlessly through the water, the eel circles aggressively beneath the surface, striking at anything that touches the stream. Attack: Spark Coil becomes Dark Surge (lightning + 1d4 shadow damage), and Golden Slick turns caustic β€” Stuck creatures also take 1 damage at the start of each turn. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Sunpetal

Plant β€” Honey Hollow

"A flower that follows you around the meadow like a very slow, very affectionate dog."

HP: 8 | Dodge: 10 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 2 | Attack Bonus: +1

Attack

Pollen Puff (1d4 poison) β€” A sneeze-cloud of bright yellow pollen directed at a single target with surprising accuracy.

Special Ability

Sunshine Heal β€” The Sunpetal opens its petals wide and channels concentrated meadow warmth into a nearby creature, healing 1d4 HP. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Fire β€” Ironic and devastating; Sunpetals wilt instantly in direct flame.

Loot

Healing Cookie

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The bright yellow petals darken to a bruised purple-black, curling inward like a fist. The stem thickens with dark scale-ridges. The Sunpetal's gentle tracking behavior becomes an aggressive pursuit β€” it follows the nearest creature with single-minded, relentless purpose. Behavior: The friendly companion becomes a clinging threat, wrapping around legs and emitting waves of toxic pollen. Attack: Pollen Puff becomes Blight Puff (poison damage + DC 11 CON save or Disadvantage on next attack from nausea). Sunshine Heal inverts to Sunshine Drain β€” heals the Sunpetal 1d4 HP by draining from the nearest creature. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Nectar Moth

Insect β€” Honey Hollow

"A moth the size of a dinner plate, dusted in gold, whose wings hum lullabies as it flies."

HP: 11 | Dodge: 12 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 2 | Attack Bonus: +2

Attack

Wing Dust (1d6 poison) β€” A shower of sparkling scales shaken loose from the moth's enormous wings, irritating on contact.

Special Ability

Lullaby Wings β€” The moth's wing-hum deepens into a sleep-inducing drone. One target within 10 ft must succeed on a DC 12 CON save or gain the Sleepy condition. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Lightning β€” Static charge disrupts the moth's wing-pattern and grounds it for 1 round, preventing flight.

Loot

Moth-Wing Dust

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The golden wing-dust turns ashen grey. Dark scales grow along the moth's thorax, and its lullaby hum becomes a low, discordant whine that makes teeth ache. Behavior: The moth stops pollinating and begins circling creatures obsessively, coating them in corrupted dust that dims their senses. Attack: Wing Dust becomes Shadow Dust (shadow damage + DC 11 Keen save or Blinded for 1 round). Lullaby Wings becomes Nightmare Drone β€” failed save inflicts Frightened for 1 round instead of Sleepy. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Golden Bumbler

Insect β€” Honey Hollow

"A bumblebee the size of a small dog, completely harmless unless you insult the Queen."

HP: 14 | Dodge: 11 | Mettle: 1 | Corrupted DP: 3 | Attack Bonus: +2

Attack

Bumble Bash (1d8 bludgeoning) β€” A full-body tackle delivered at maximum buzz, more crash-landing than deliberate strike.

Special Ability

Honey Shield β€” The Bumbler secretes a thick honey coating over one ally, granting them +2 Mettle until the end of the next round. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Cold β€” Cold air makes the Bumbler sluggish and grumpy, reducing its Dodge by 2 for 1 round.

Loot

Royal Honey Jar

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The Bumbler's fuzzy golden coat mats down with dark, oily residue. Scales grow between the fur like metal plates. Its cheerful buzzing deepens to an aggressive, wasp-like drone. Behavior: The normally docile Bumbler becomes a frenzied divebomber, targeting the smallest creature in range with blind aggression. Attack: Bumble Bash gains an area effect β€” all creatures within 5 ft of the target take 1d4 bludgeoning from the shockwave. Honey Shield becomes Dark Honey β€” coats an ally in corrupted honey that deals 1 damage per round to anyone who touches them. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Streamwalker Stork

Beast β€” Honey Hollow

"A tall, dignified bird that wades through the golden streams catching fish and judging everyone's posture."

HP: 16 | Dodge: 13 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 3 | Attack Bonus: +3

Attack

Spear Beak (1d8 piercing) β€” A precise, jabbing strike delivered with the focus of a creature who has spent decades perfecting the art of catching things.

Special Ability

Watchful Eye β€” The Stork's keen instincts grant it and all allies within 10 ft +1 to Keen checks until end of the round. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Lightning β€” The Stork's long legs in water make it a conductor; lightning attacks deal double damage when the Stork is standing in a stream.

Loot

Stork Feather Quill

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: Dark marks creep up the Stork's long legs like shadows climbing a pole. Scales grow along its neck and under its wings. Its dignified stillness becomes an eerie, unblinking vigil β€” it watches everything with cold assessment. Behavior: The Stork stops wading and begins stalking, hunting creatures with patient, predatory focus instead of fishing. Attack: Spear Beak gains a bleed effect β€” targets hit take 1 additional damage at the start of their next turn. Watchful Eye becomes Unsettling Gaze β€” all creatures within 10 ft must succeed DC 12 WIS save or have Disadvantage on their next attack. Defeating the corruption frees them.

Honeycomb Tortoise

Beast β€” Honey Hollow

"Its shell is made of something that looks exactly like honeycomb, and bees genuinely mistake it for real estate."

HP: 20 | Dodge: 15 | Mettle: 2 | Corrupted DP: 4 | Attack Bonus: +3

Attack

Shell Press (1d8 bludgeoning) β€” The tortoise tucks in and drops its considerable weight onto anything beneath it.

Special Ability

Honeycomb Shelter β€” The Tortoise hunkers down and opens its shell, creating a protective canopy. One ally within 5 ft gains +3 Mettle until the end of the next round. (Once per battle)

Weakness

Fire β€” The wax-like honeycomb shell melts easily; fire attacks ignore the Tortoise's Mettle entirely.

Loot

Honeycomb Fragment

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The hexagonal patterns on the tortoise's shell fill with dark resin. The cheerful bees that used to nest on its back flee. Black scales grow across the soft skin between shell segments. Behavior: The gentle slow-mover becomes a battering ram, charging in straight lines with grinding determination. The shell's honeycomb chambers fill with corrupted honey that seeps and sizzles. Attack: Shell Press gains the Stuck condition β€” targets are trapped under the tortoise's weight (DC 13 STR save to escape). Honeycomb Shelter becomes Corrupted Shell β€” the tortoise retracts fully; it takes half damage from all sources for 1 round but emits an aura of dark honey that deals 1d4 poison damage to all within 5 ft. Defeating the corruption frees them.
