Starbright Tower Bestiary

"High above the clouds, the Tower reaches toward stars that have names no one remembers. The creatures here are made of light β€” and light, when corrupted, burns in ways that darkness never could."

This file contains all 4 creatures of Starbright Tower: a crystalline spire where arcane energy fills the air and every creature glows with some piece of the cosmos. These creatures are wonders β€” and in their corrupted forms, they are the most visually dramatic transformations in the bestiary.


Star Slime

Ooze β€” Starbright Tower

"A gelatinous blob that twinkles with starlight."

HP: 15 | Dodge: 10 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 3 | Attack Bonus: +3

Attack

Cosmic Splash (1d8 radiant) β€” A wet, glittering splat of star-charged ooze.

Special Ability

Stellar Blind β€” The Star Slime pulses with brilliant light. (All enemies within 10 ft must succeed on DC 12 AGI save or gain the Blinded condition for 1 round; once per battle)

Weakness

Radiant β€” Paradoxically, concentrated radiant energy disrupts the star-matter that holds it together.

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: Black marks seep into the Star Slime's luminous body, extinguishing its starlight spots one by one until it glows a sickly, pulsing dark violet. Dark scales harden along its outer membrane, giving it a spiked, defensive shell. Behavior: The curious, blobbing slime becomes erratically aggressive, splitting into smaller blobs that each carry their own aggressive impulse before merging back together. Attack: When reduced below half HP, the corrupted Star Slime splits into two 7 HP copies that each act independently. Stellar Blind becomes a continuous pulse β€” affecting everyone within 10 ft at the start of each of the Slime's turns (save each time). Defeating the corruption frees them.


Rune Wisp

"A flickering rune come to life, mischievous and bright."

HP: 12 | Dodge: 12 | Mettle: 0 | Corrupted DP: 2 | Attack Bonus: +2

Attack

Spark Beam (1d6 radiant) β€” A narrow beam of focused runic light.

Special Ability

Spell Echo β€” The Rune Wisp observes and copies the last spell cast within 30 ft, replicating it at reduced power. (Deals half the original spell's damage or half the healing; targets the original caster; once per battle)

Weakness

Silence β€” A Silence effect snuffs the Rune Wisp like a candle.

Glow Mark Charm

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: Black marks etch across the Rune Wisp's glowing form like corrupted code. Dark scales crystallize around its edges, giving it angular, threatening shapes instead of its usual soft flicker. Its light turns from gold to a cold, sharp green. Behavior: Spell Echo becomes malicious. The wisp no longer copies once and moves on β€” it builds a library of spells, waiting to fire them all at once in a terrifying burst. Attack: Spell Echo no longer has a "once per battle" limit β€” it copies every spell used within range and can hold up to 3 copies, releasing them all simultaneously as an Action. Defeating the corruption frees them.


Comet Drake

"A small celestial dragon that streaks across the sky like a comet."

HP: 28 | Dodge: 15 | Mettle: 2 | Corrupted DP: 5 | Attack Bonus: +5

Tail Swipe (2d8 bludgeoning) β€” A sweeping arc of the tail that crackles with residual stellar energy.

Special Ability

Starburst Breath β€” The Comet Drake breathes a combined stream of fire and radiant energy in a 20 ft line. (All targets take 1d6 fire + 1d6 radiant damage; DC 14 AGI save to halve; once per rest)

Weakness

Cold β€” Stellar fire is extinguished by cold, grounding the drake.

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The Comet Drake's luminous scales, once streaming with light trails, become matte and dark. Black marks spread in a starburst pattern across its body β€” an ironic echo of its former beauty. Dark scales layer thickly over its wings and chest. Its comet-trail turns black. Behavior: The Comet Drake stops soaring and begins diving β€” crashing repeatedly into the battlefield like a living meteor, leaving craters and scorch marks. Its celestial grace becomes pure destructive momentum. Attack: Starburst Breath becomes available every 2 rounds (not once per rest), and Tail Swipe hits all creatures in a 10 ft arc. On each turn the drake also streaks through its movement path, dealing 1d4 fire damage to anyone in its flight path. Defeating the corruption frees them.


Lumivine Guardian

Elemental β€” Starbright Tower

"An animated vine of pure light, sworn to guard the tower."

HP: 24 | Dodge: 13 | Mettle: 1 | Corrupted DP: 4 | Attack Bonus: +4

Attack

Light Lash (1d10 radiant) β€” A whipping tendril of pure concentrated light.

Special Ability

Radiant Burst β€” The Lumivine Guardian releases a pulse of blinding light in all directions. (All enemies within 10 ft must succeed on DC 14 CON save or be Blinded for 1 round; once per battle)

Weakness

Dark β€” Dark damage withers the light-vine and suppresses Radiant Burst for 1 round.

Corrupted Form

When touched by The Unwritten: The Lumivine Guardian's sworn duty to protect is the cruelest thing the corruption twists. Black marks creep down its vines of light, dimming them. Dark scales harden along each tendril, and the protective archway shape it holds collapses into something grasping and aggressive. Behavior: The Guardian, once a protector, now tries to bind and restrain everyone β€” friend and foe alike. It lashes its darkened vines outward, attempting to wrap them around anything that enters the tower. Attack: Light Lash gains the Entangle effect β€” creatures hit must succeed on a DC 13 STR save or be Stuck for 1 round. Radiant Burst becomes Dark Burst β€” deals 1d6 necrotic damage to all in 10 ft and extinguishes any light sources (torches, glowing items, cantrips). Defeating the corruption frees them.
